Two weeks working in web design in Cape Town, South Africa? Yes please! Client Bubblegum called on Yeah Can to help restore order after a design
er left them to follow other dreams. A few days in Johannesburg working in the TV studio during the live broadcast of a brand new educational show were followed by ten days in glorious Cape Town.
Bubblegum offers a range of educational products besides a TV show. One of these products targets Grade 1, 2 and 3 kids attending school in South Africa. Bubblegum has produced a gloriously colourful and fun set of books, newspaper supplements and supporting posters in a number of the national languages to make learning fun and to give teachers extra classroom material.
South Africa boasts eleven official languages. It’s quite something to produce educational material in such a range of languages. On offer so far are educational resources in English, Zulu, Xhosa and Sesotho with more languages to follow.
The great thing about these resources is that they are produced by teachers working in classrooms with years of experience. This makes the material real and based on real life learner/educator interaction rather than on some nebulous theoretical academia. And it’s beautifully designed. A real pleasure to look at whether adult or kid.
In support of this wonderful program Yeah Can was briefed to add a website. Following on with the fun graphics used in the print material, the web design follows a similar look and feel. Check out the fabulous graphics for this amazing program. Don’t we all wish we had been at school then?
